Advocate Rana Asif Habib holds a Masters in Sociology and a Law graduate from University of Karachi. He is President and founder of Initiator Human Development Foundation, awarded Ashoka fellowship in 2008 for the work done for the wellbeing of street children. He worked as Producer, Researcher and Interviewer in different documentaries. As a trainer, he worked with different NGOs and Governmental organizations like Drug Free Pakistan, Sanjog, SPARC, UNAIDS, SACP, Pakistan National Aids Consortium, AGHS, LHRLA, British Pakistan Law Council, Asia Foundation, Sindh Police and Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of Sindh on Child Rights.

He assisted and facilitates students in their Masters and PH.D thesis on Child labor, bonded labor, Street Children etc. As a cooperative Teacher he worked in Department of Sociology, University of Karachi from August 2003 to 12 December 2003.  He is the Convener, Movement for Child Protection and Welfare and Member of Provincial Commission on Child Welfare and Development. Government of Sindh, Member of District Task Force on Child Trafficking and Member Population Association of Pakistan. Also worked and provided his valuable services as a Suicide Counselor from 1996-1999 on helpline.

He has initiated a signatory campaign to “Ban Toy Guns” as the Convener of Movement for Child Protection & Welfare in major cities of Pakistan.

He is the author of Silent Shrieks, “A Situational Analysis on Violence against Street Children. He is the Senior Active Member of Child Rights Movement and Member of DU-Destination Unknown Campaign, Children on move, the Focal Person Child Protection Committee, Sindh Police and Focal Person at Commissioner Karachi, Helpline 1299.

Child Rights Education Program: Children’s rights education (or children’s human rights education) is the instructional teaching and practice of children’s rights in schools and educational institutions, as informed by and reliable with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. When entirely implemented, a children’s rights education program consists of both a curriculum to educate children about their human rights, it is a program to operate the school in an approach that compliments children’s rights. Rana Asif Habib enrolled himself in two years CREP (Child Rights Education Program) and studied five Modules:

  1. Human Rights Education and Child Rights.
  2. Life Skills to work with Children.
  3. Basic Concepts of Child Rights, International and National Systems and Mechanisms.
  4. Child Protections and Child Safeguarding.
  5. Child Rights Governance.

He also worked as a Field Motivator/Instructor in “The Model Literacy Project” in 2000.
